Restricted Area Trekking

Nepal Government has strictly restricted some areas for trekking. The foreigner (restriction) act does not allow any tourist to enter the restricted area until they obtain a protected area permit. Government of Nepal prohibited some area for trekking because they are environmentally, culturally and politically very sensitive area. In order to obtain permit, you have to meet some certain requirements. Upper Mustang, Upper Dolpo, Manaslu, Kanchenjunga, Rara Lake, Makalu, Narphu Valley and more are strictly controlled area for foreigners. This restriction is made due to some security reasons. The concept of restriction was practiced in order to protect the natural, environmental and cultural beauty of the region. The restricted area in Nepal was opened from tourism since 1,991.

You must carry all the camping and cooking equipments during trekking in restricted areas because there are no teahouse facilities. Moreover, Trekkers are not allowed to enter the area alone; they must be in at least 2 people in group.
