About Pokhara city

Pokhara is the second biggest city in Nepal, which is situated at 827m from the sea level. It is also known as the capital city of Gandaki province. Pokhara is 200 km west of our capital city Kathmandu, surrounded by the greenery hill, and it is the metro-Politian city. The climate of the city is moderate in a summer between20-35 and in a winter 5-15. For the visitor, we can found accommodation in Lakeside, Sarangkot, Begnas and Prithvi chowk easily and some resort, Tea house, and homestay are on the hillside.

Flight time from Kathmandu to Pokhara is 25 minutes, Chitwan to Pokhara 20 minutes, Lumbini to Pokhara is 20 minutes, and Jomsom to Pokhara 18 minutes. The major airlines to connect Pokhara are Buddha air, yeti air, Tara Air, Simrik Air, Tara Air, and Nepal airlines. Kathmandu to Pokhara 25 flight departure in a day, from Lumbini and Chitwan to Pokhara 4 flight in a day and Jomsom to Pokhara 12 flight in a day.

2. By Tourist Bus

Pokhara city is connected by a tourist bus from Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Lumbini. Kathmandu to Pokhara, we found a day and night tourist bus, from Chitwan and Lumbini we found only in a day tourist bus. Kathmandu to Pokhara distance is 200 km via Prithvi highway. It takes around 7 to 8 hours and departure from shorekhutte chowk nearby Thamel. Kathmandu to pokhara tourist bus stop on the way 2 times. Chitwan to Pokhara distance is 140 km via Prithvi highway, a departure from shauraha tourist Bus Park, it stops 1 time on the road and departure only in the morning time 8:00 am. Lumbini to Pokhara distance is 250 km via Prithvi highway and 203 km via Siddartha highway; it takes around 8 to 9 hours. The bus departure from Lumbini to Pokhara gate no five and stop on the way two times. 3.By Private vehicle

Traveler can use any private vehicle like car, jeep, van, bus from Nepal, and all around the world. Some conventional working processes to use out of the country vehicle, the permit gets from the immigration office of Nepal. 5 Hour takes from Kathmandu to Pokhara, 3 hour takes from Chitwan, 7 hour takes from Saunali border, 14/15 hour from Kakarvitta border, and 14/15 hour from Mahendranagar boarder. 4. By Local Bus

Traveler can use the local bus from any side of Nepal to Pokhara. We can found the local bus to go to Pokhara from Kathmandu, Chitwan, Lumbini, Kakarvitta, Nepaljung, Mahendrnagar, Jomsom, etc. Nepal traveling by local bus is safe and comfortable, but we recommended to international tourists to use the deluxe local bus because it was more comfortable than other buses.

Information about Muktinath Temple

Muktinath Temple is one of the sacred place for Hinduism and Buddhism which lies 18 km northeast of Jomsom. It is about 170 km from the Pokhara city of Gandaki province and lies at the foot of the Thorang la pass for Annapurna Circuit Trek in Muktinath valley. This famous lord BISHNU shrine is at an altitude of 3800 m from sea level of Mustang district in Gandaki Province. It is one of temple lying at highest altitude in the world.

Muktinath is made by Sanskrit word of ‘MUKTI’ and ‘NATH’ which is translated as ‘the salvation area of gods’. The legends say that lord Vishnu got free from the curse of Sati in this region. Hence Muktinath is one of the holiest place in Nepal. Muktinath is one of the 108th sacred place of Vaishnava commonly called as Shakti Peeth; the absolute place for atonement. The Muktinath temple is made up of pagoda style and is dedicated to lord Vishnu. There are 108 stone water spouts which are believed to be the place for liberation so pilgrims take a holy bath in this pond.

The Buddhist call this temple as Chumig Gyatsa which translate to “Hundred waters” in Tibetan. It is one of the 24 tantric places of Buddhism and home of the goddess Dakini known as sky dancers.The Buddhist claims the idol to be the Avalokitesvara who embodies the compassion of Buddhism. Buddhist people come here to pay homage to the eternal flame burning here which is locally known here as Jwaladevi which lies 100 m south of the temple.

Muktinath temple lies in the upper Bhote region of Mustang district. Climate and season for Muktinath tour

However travel to muktinath by road sometimes may get difficult because of landslide. Similarly, the airline service sometime may get cancelled due to climatic condition. But on the other hand the trek to muktinath after rain can be so beautiful and momentful as visitor can witness lushly green hills, snowcapped mountains with the clear blue sky.

WINTER: (DECEMBER, JANUARY AND FEBRUARY)
Winter season is however a difficult season to visit but it is accessible via flight. The trails will be covered with snow and temperature ranges from -8 to 4`C. During winter in Nepal, trek can be done up to 3500m so visit to muktinath temple can be done through Heli tour. Thus this trip can be made one of the luxury package to visit to the temple.

Nowadays jeep and bus service to Muktinath have become popular and easily accessible because of good road condition and better maintenance. Visitors can easily reach muktinath from Pokhara through 4 wheel drive in 2 days. You can stay a day at Jomsom and can visit muktinath on other day. But for straight to drive it is however a 12 hour drive to muktinath. You can reach to Muktinath to its base and have to walk an elevation for a moderate 25 mins. Nowadays horse ride to Muktinath have become popular way to visit.
