The Panchase Trek starts from Pokhara and heads to the starting point at Kande, on an elevation of around 1,300 meters high. From here, trekkers climb uphill through rich forests, typical villages, and provide stunning vistas of the two neighbouring peaks of Annapurna and Machapuchare. Adding altitude itch, the trail leads to Panchase Peak in its height at about 2,500 meters, which provides extraordinary and panoramic views of the entire Annapurna Range. From the summit, the route trails to calm valleys such as Panchase Lake, and the trek finally ends with a drive back to Pokhara.
The Panchase Trek route is an interesting short trek that provides wonderful views of the whole Annapurna region. After arriving in Pokhara, it starts with a drive to Kande, followed by a gradual ascent through lush forests, charming villages, and terraced farm. On route, along the rhododendron gardens, many small streams must be crossed while enjoying the local flora and fauna. What definitely steps out is the trek to reach Panchase Peak, which provides magnificent views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. This is followed by a descent to Panchase Lake, where trekkers can enjoy the serene environment before returning to Pokhara.
The Panchase Trek is a moderate trek meant for those trekkers with a basic level of fitness. A healthy heart, good stamina, and willingness to hike for 5-6 hours are the basic requirement for the trek trek. Though it’s not as demanding on the physical aspect, still being in good shape is important in order to enjoy it to the fullest. This moderate-type trek will go up to 2,500 meters, therefore some acclimatization will be needed, whereby moderate ascents and steep climbs along the route should be entertained. Cardiovascular training like running, swimming, or cycling for some months before going for the trek will assist in putting the body in optimal condition.
There are many necessary equipment that trekkers have to carry during the treks. During the Panchase trek trekkers can stay at stars to local level hotels at Kathmandu and Pokhara. On the way they have to stay at local community house or tea house enjoying local cuisine but some places they have to stay on tent doing camping because at upper altitude we can’t find any permanent residence house so that trekkers have to carry necessary equipment and materials according to their stay .The necessary materials needed during the treks are as follows.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons for the Panchase Trek. Beginning in March and lasting through May, the spring brings mellow temperatures of 10 to 20 degrees Celsius. With blooming rhododendrons and clear blue skies, breathtaking views are afforded of the Annapurna and Duhalgiri ranges. Autumn, on the other hand, starting from September through November is also better as, following the monsoons, the skies become clear, fresh air fills the atmosphere, and temperatures moderately range from 8 to 18 degrees Celsius. Both summer and winter should be avoided, as heavy rainfall in summer and cold temperatures in winter make trekking difficult.
Spring Season:
Spring time is one of the best seasons for trekking into Panchase. The temperatures range from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius, making the weather very pleasant for trekking. The bloom of rhododendrons and other colorful wildflowers varies from place to place along the trek, making the trek itself beautiful. The skies are mostly clear, offering fabulous views of the Annapurna range and other peaks all around it. Compare this to autumn, which can be crowded. The spring trek provides peace and excitement for that kind of trekker, who likes a nice weather call with a fantastic landscape unmarred.
Summer Season:
June-August, corresponds to summer and monsoon season in Nepal. Heavy downpours make the region muddy and slippery, causing problems for trekkers. In the lower better regions, the temperature varies between 12 to 22 degrees Celsius, while in the higher lands, it gets much cooler. The pictorial contrast of the Himalayas after the heavy downpours contrasts with the green and misty sceneries. The caution for the trekkers is that landslides might be a very real threat and weather could be quite unpredictable.
Autumn Season:
The Autumn season can be one of the most popular for the Panchase Trek between September and November. The clear skies and stable weather circulation would follow the monsoon. Temperatures would range from a comfortable 8 to 18 degrees Celsius for trekking. Trails dry out and are less slippery, giving an expedition that is both safe and enjoyable. Moreover, the autumn season comes together without major Nepali festivals-Dashain and Tihar-that spice up one’s cultural experience along the trek. There might, however, be a bit of a crowd at this time because of favorable conditions.
Winter Season:
Winter, from December to February, brings cold temperatures to the Panchase Trek. In higher altitudes, temperatures can drop below freezing, making the trek challenging, especially without proper winter gear. While the lower regions remain accessible, snow may block the higher passes and trails. Winter trekking requires proper preparation, such as warm clothing, gear, and sufficient supplies. Although the crowds are thinner during this season, trekkers need to be prepared for colder weather, shorter daylight hours, and potentially difficult trail conditions.
It is comprised of an early breakfast, served at your teahouse or home-stay in Pokhara. Most trekkers set off between 7 and 8 am, walking along for about 5-6 hours through lush green scenery, terraced fields, and traditional villages. They have lunch either at a picturesque spot or in a local tea house serving a hearty, traditional meal of Nepali meat or vegetable curry with rice and lentils. In the afternoon, the trek resumes at a leisurely pace so that there is time for short rest-breaks and for small explorations of the local village, etc. Then, from 4-5 pm, the trekkers arrive at the overnight stop of the day, giving them enough time to rest, enjoy the view, and make use of the serene atmosphere. Dinner is between 6 and 7 pm, when there is just time for a quiet conversation or a preparation for the next day trek.
The Panchase trek moves up from the moderately low altitude of around 1,300 meters to about 2,500 meters at Panchase Peak. Compared with high Himalayan trekking routes, the altitude is much lower. To help the process of acclimatization, our itinerary will include a gradual ascent and time for rest breaks. The principle is to minimize altitude discomfort with plenty to drink, warm meals, and regular rest stops. Altitude sickness is rarely serious while on this trek, being alert goes a long way unless rest days are considered for your journey to be safe and comfortable.
Panchase Trek is not as strenuous if compared with high-altitude Himalayan treks, but it still poses specific additional challenges. Steep ascents and descents along with rocky and sometimes uneven trails offer a fair challenge to one’s fitness and decent walking boots. The weather in Panchase can be unpredictable—the sudden rainfall during monsoon, cold winds blowing the valley in early mornings, etc. Some of the sections of the trail can be open with little or no facilities, thus needing great preparation and care. However, these challenges can be effectively tackled by proper planning and conditioning of mind and body.
The trek may turn out to be a challenging one, especially in the absence of specific winter gear needed. While the lower section will be accessible, significant snow may come to block higher passes and trails. It is essential to be well-equipped for winter treks in terms of clothing, gear, and supplies. Though this season is less crowded, trekkers have to contend with colder weather, shorter daylight hours, and possibly difficult trail conditions.
The main concern while trekking in Panchase is the obtainment of certain permits which allow for the conservation of the natural and cultural heritages. All trekkers need to obtain a Trekker’s Information Management Systems (TIMS) card, obtainable in Kathmandu or Pokhara, which is mandatory for trekking. As the Panchase Trek is located within a conservation area, it needs a Conservation Area Permit on entering the area. Based on the route of the trek there will be times when one will have to also make arrangements for a Restricted Area Permit via a registered trekking agency as it might involve entering restricted zones. It would be best to check all permits before the commencement of the trek since this helps in avoiding hassles during the trek.
The power of reliable electricity and internet facilities from Pokhara can only be found in major cities. Once you venture into broader areas above the Panchase region, you are more at the mercy of Mother Nature. Basic electricity is available in most tea houses; however, it may be limited and often off. Majority of them charge a small fee for charging electric devices, while some will not let you charge your devices unless you order something. Mobile connectivity can be readily obtained in lower places and on the main trails; however, in more remote or higher zones, it can be very unpredictable. Trek-sters around this region are always advised to carry powerbanks and brace themselves for intermittent connectivity during their journey.
ATMs and currency exchange services are readily found in Pokhara and Kathmandu, but they are infinitely far and few in between on the Panchase Trek. Most small villages and teahouses along the route will be amenable only to cash transactions done using Nepalese rupees. It is necessary for you to exchange enough money before heading for the trek to meet the costs of food, accommodation, or any other personal expenses. Ample local currency will enable you to run your expenditures without any glitches throughout the trek, given that very limited access to banking facilities or ATMs is available in the remote areas.

The best time for the Panchase Trek is Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-November) with perfect weather and blooming rhododendron and green fields on the route.

Panchase Trek offers standard teahouses and homestays for accommodation. Basic to moderately comfortable lodging is available. Food tends to be typical Nepali fare with rice, lentils, momos, noodles, and local specialties, with a few snacks always included for the longer trekking days.z
While the Panchase Trek is quite easy-going, hiring a local guide would certainly add to your experience by sharing cultural experience along the way and guiding you in proper direction. A porter can also be arranged for those who wish to lessen their burden during the trek.
Panchase Trek is moderate. Short but steep ascents and descents make it more suitable for beginners. Altitude-wise, the trek keeps it relatively low, which minimizes the risk of altitude sickness.
Yes, the Panchase Trek can be attempted by a beginner with a fair sense of fitness. However, it is always wise to do some slightly intensive physical workouts such as cardio workouts and hiking before the trek.
The highest point of the Panchase Trek is the 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) high Panchase Peak. On this high point, trekkers will be able to enjoy trendy all-around views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.
Most of the teahouses on the Panchase Trek have electricity, although it is scarce, and charging your gadgets might also come at an extra cost. It is well advised to carry with you your power bank to have backups.
The trek begins on the outskirts of Pokhara, which can easily be reached by bus, private vehicle, or a short flight from Kathmandu. The trek begins with either a brief drive or a walk to the starting point.
Yes, the Panchase Trek is purportedly safe for solo trekkers. It is a fairly well-used trail, and local people are generally friendly and helpful. While it is best practice not to trek alone, you may inform someone of your plans, and hiring a local guide can assure a more pleasant trip.
