Introduction of Mohare Danda Trek

Mohare Danda Trek is a relatively new and alternative trek to Ghorepani in the Annapurna Region of Nepal. Located at an elevation of 3320m above sea level, it is situated in close proximity to the picturesque city of Pokhara. The primary objective of this trek is to promote eco-tourism in Nepal and improve the living standards of the local people in rural areas. Additionally, the aim is to preserve the ancient traditions of the Magar and Gurungcommunities and showcase them on an international level.

Mohore Danda Trek has gained popularity due to its natural beauty, rich culture, and the warm hospitality of the locals. Mohare Danda is nestled between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, and is considered one of the best viewpoints in the Annapurna Region. The breathtaking view of the snow-covered mountains from Mohare Danda is awe-inspiring. Watching the sunrise over the Himalayas while sipping a hot cup of tea is a moment that will be etched in your memory forever. The snow-capped mountains illuminated by the morning sun’s rays create a picturesque sight that is truly captivating.

The Mohare Danda trek takes you through stunning jungles and landscapes. During the trek, you will traverse different forests in the Annapurna Conservation Area, which has a vast range of altitudes, resulting in a diverse array of flora and fauna. Rare animals and plants such as Red Pandas, Snow Leopards, Himalayan Thar, Himalayan Monal, Wild Cats, Snow Cats, Brown Bears, Tibetan Blue Bears, Tigers, and various plants including Birch, Larch, Silver Fir, Hemlock, Oak, Pine, Rhododendron, Sal, and Sissau are conserved in the Annapurna Conservation Area.

The Mohare Danda Trek is also renowned for its traditional and cultural aspects. The region is home to various ethnic groups such as Gurungs, Tamangs, Sunuwars, Newars, Thakalis, Chepangs, and a majority of Brahmins and Chhetris, who have unique cultures and traditions. Each community has its distinct culture, celebrates different festivals, and has its antique traditions. The Gurung community of Ghandruk, in particular, is well-known for its unique culture, traditions, and hospitability. Their traditional songs, dances, unique attire, and lifestyle make them special. You will have the opportunity to learn about their customs and participate in cultural programs such as singing and dancing.

Local food and drinks are also a highlight of the Mohare Danda Trek. As this trek is designed to uplift the living standards of various communities, we will stay in different community homestays and lodges overnight. During your stay, the locals will organize singing programs for you, and the women of the community will prepare traditional dishes like Sel-roti, aachar, and more. This experience will make your trek more memorable. During the cultural programs, you will also have the chance to dress up in traditional attire and take photographs.

The majority of people in this region are farmers who use traditional farming methods in the hilly terrain. They plough their fields using two oxen and a traditional tool called “Halo.” As this trek is primarily in a rural area, you will encounter many traditional items that are used in daily life, such as Janto (used for grinding grains), Dhiki, Doko, Halo (used to plough fields), Syakhu (used as an umbrella during rainy weather while working in the fields), and more. You will also have the opportunity to learn about traditional farming practices in Nepal.

Our team will assist you during the Mohare Danda trek. Our experienced and qualified guides and porters will make your trek easy and memorable guiding you during the trek and introduce you with every tradition, culture and all the things that you see during the trek.

Best Time to Trek Mohare Danda

The Mohare Danda Trek is feasible all year round, but the ideal time to embark on the journey depends on your personal preference or selected timeframe. However, the trek may be influenced by various factors such as weather, climate, season, temperature, etc. A brief overview of the seasons is provided below to help you choose the best time for your trek.

1. Spring Season:

The optimal time to undertake the Mohare Danda Trek, as well as other treks in Nepal, is during the spring season, which extends from March until early June. During this period, the temperature begins to rise, ranging from 15°C to 20°C, following the conclusion of winter. This temperature range is ideal for trekking enthusiasts, providing pleasant weather that is neither too hot nor too cold.

Moreover, spring weather is typically crystal clear, with a low probability of rainfall. It is the season when various species of flora begin to bloom, transforming the jungles and surrounding landscapes into breathtaking and vibrant sights. The Rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal, blooms during this time, infusing the forest with a reddish hue and enhancing the area’s lively splendour. Numerous other plant varieties also blossom, creating an exquisite, colourful garden-like forest that is guaranteed to captivate the hearts of all visitors.

2. Autumn Season:

Autumn is also regarded as an ideal season to embark on the Mohare Danda Trek. The trek is renowned for its cultural and traditional significance, and during the autumn season, several festivals are celebrated, making it an even more desirable time to undertake the trek. The temperature during this time ranges from 15°C to 25°C, which is optimal for trekking purposes.

Moreover, during autumn, the weather is generally clear, providing the best views of the majestic mountains from the Mohare Danda trek. The picturesque landscapes and mountain vistas are truly breathtaking and will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on any trekking enthusiast.

3. Summer Season:

Summer is a viable time to embark on the Mohare Danda Trek, although it brings along the monsoon season in Nepal, which means that there will be rainfall at least once a day. This can result in the obstruction of the clear view of the mountains. Moreover, the trail can become slippery, and leeches may pose a problem. However, with proper trekking equipment such as boots and sticks, it is possible to minimize the risks associated with trekking during this season.

One of the benefits of trekking during the summer is the lush green environment that surrounds the trail, with waterfalls cascading in various locations. Additionally, it is an ideal time to observe traditional farming practices, as it marks the time for the plantation of the main cash crop, i.e., Paddy. Despite the challenges posed by the rainy season, the unique experiences and scenery offered during this time make it worth considering for the MohareDanda Trek.

4. Winter Season:

Winter can be an excellent time to embark on the Mohare Danda trek. The season is characterized by snowfall in the Himalayas, leading to crystal-clear weather and stunning mountain views without any rain. Since the trek takes place at lower altitudes, heavy snowfall is unlikely. However, temperatures can drop to as low as 5°C, so it is important to wear appropriate warm clothing and use thick sleeping bags and blankets to stay comfortable.

Acclimatisation

People from different corner of the world comes Nepal to visit and to trek in Nepal. Nepal is the country with huge range of altitude and uneven geographical structure. Because of this reason the climate and the environment will also be very different than other place in world. So, people from the different part of the world have to adjust the new environment.

As the altitude of Nepal ranges from 60m to 8848.83m from the sea level. People from lower altitude or from sea level comes Nepal to trek in Himalayan region of Nepal. In higher altitude there is low air density and the amount of oxygen is low which cause altitude sickness. To trek in higher altitude above 3000 meter you need to acclimatize so that you can avoid altitude sickness.

In Mohare Danda Trek, the highest altitude of the trek is 3300 meter from the sea level. This is the border limit of the altitude sickness. Here our Mohare Danda trek is lower altitude trek so there is very little risk of altitude sickness. Even though some symptoms can be seen in some people from very low altitude.

Fortunately, our highly experienced team is well-equipped to assist trekkers in combating altitude sickness. We strongly advise our guests to consume an abundance of fluids, including water, hot soup, and tea, to help prevent altitude sickness. Furthermore, we employ a gradual approach to ascending to higher elevations, affording the trekker’s body sufficient time to adjust to the changing environment. To allow the body to acclimatize, it is essential to rest frequently and avoid overexertion during hikes or climbs. Even physically fit individuals may be susceptible to altitude sickness, which is why we ascend slowly, typically 300 to 1000 meters per day, to ensure proper rest.

At our company, we prioritize providing the best service while taking care of our guests. In the event that a trekker is unable to fend off altitude sickness, we will take them back. Our company’s utmost concern is the well-being of our guests, and we guarantee that our seasoned team will do everything possible to ensure a safe and unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Trekking Difficulties

Mohare Danda trek is considered as easy and short trek. The main factor that makes the trek difficult is trekking distance and altitude. Mohare Danda is the close trek from the beautiful city Pokhara. The total trekking distance is 45km and the highest altitude of MohareDanda is 3300m from this level. The geographical structure of this region is unevenly distributed so the trial is narrow, stepped paved trial, somewhere up and somewhere down, and through the jungle. Even though the trek is very easy because of the short distance and low altitude the trek is very easy in comparison to other trek in this region.

To ensure a safe and comfortable experience, we provide experienced and qualified guides and porters who are fluent in English and conduct themselves politely. Our team is well-equipped to handle any challenges that may arise during the trek and will arrange all necessary services and facilities.

Moreover, our guides and porters will provide valuable information about the area’s flora, fauna, mountains, jungles, rivers, and local communities’ traditions and cultures. This enriches the trekking experience with cultural insights. However, due to the trek’s moderate to challenging difficulty level, we recommend that infants, children, elderly people, pregnant women, regular medicine users, or those with below-average physical fitness avoid this trek.

Trekking Cost Guide and Porter

The Mohare Danda Trek is a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, culture and tradition and disconnect from the stresses of daily life. Whether you’re traveling with colleagues, friends, family, or as a female trekker, this trek is an excellent option for those who are moderately fit. Providing this document ensures proper coordination in case of a rescue mission or any potential mishaps where full medical equipment may be required. Given the unpredictability of the future, minimizing or preventing risks is necessary to reduce the likelihood of mishaps or their impact. Tipping is typically offered on the final day of the trek, although trekkers may choose to tip hotel staff, lodge employees, or other individuals at any time during their trip. When deciding on the amount to tip, it is essential to consider the quality of the service provided, the duration of the service, and the level of personal satisfaction. While tipping is a common practice in Nepal, it is not obligatory, and trekkers should not feel pressured to tip if they are not satisfied with the services received.
